The TikTok about the state after the European elections was ALL OF US EUROPEANS. I have no words, I am speechless, I am sad....this is a nightmare I really would like to wake up from.
The yap piece...bravo. The sad thing is, I feel language has turned to yap because of media exhaustion. Kinda like bar babble because Skynyrd is blasting (just visited my hometown for Father's Day). I am not saying Substack is above the yap, especially with Notes, but it seems to be a digital beacon of optimism.
oh no you are 1000% right like substack is a lot of yap for sure but it's also like....a constant competition of yap which is all just not-helping-anything. but does it need to help anything? unsure. but it did make me think: is it possible for there to ever be cultural silence? a la: will there ever be a "good" week where us people are like "actually everything has been said and things are good no comment :)" i am...doubtful
Well I took "yap" to mean "insubstantial speech" and I would never expect it to be gone, but it seems like, relative to other portals, Substack (as a reader not a news feed) had a lower percentage of yap
