so cringe but the weird campaign is working—and the red “weird” hats are first alarming then endearing. like “keep Austin weird” really applies now. and what a moment for black women making zoom a fundraising powerhouse. the world is right again
Can I add another sad but successful case of AI: the BBL Drizzy clip. I hate what it was born from, but I love that 1-min chipmunk soul slop deep in my bones - I heard it at the club two weeks ago (aka my local legion’s techno night lmfao) and lost my goddamn MIND.
PS you are always brimming with peak journalism and I’m so sorry many of my highlights are from The Silly (TM), but “I will be forced to crack a molar, igniting my emergency cyanide pill” had me lolling on the floor
god i love BBL drizzy. metro is a genius. it both feels fresh and retro: like a deeply familiar sampled funk clip form my 70s. maybe james brown or someone. brilliant.
I know 😩 I’m this close to DMing the DJ who dropped it saying “thank you for saving my life” because I never thought I’d hear it outside of Insta reels!!!
okay so first it’s just not for me and i am willing to take critique on this lol but it feels like quite a LEAP to go from Addison Rae to Lorde to Billie, which maybe to me just feels like the storytelling and effort of Brat crumbled as it sort of turned into Alt Disney? or something? especially paired with the Kamala stuff and that they both are Barbie sisters. like the storytelling and DRAMA of the Lorde remix was a 2024 high point — which got followed up with a mumblecore David Foster Wallace ass underwear song which to me is….zzzzzzz this is where my being not-young comes into play but it just reminded me that this/brat is less art and more commercial product (which, ironically, is what Crash was “supposed to be”) bonus points for queer rep but ultimately: eh. Aphex Twin shirt seemed to suggest that era is going to go the way of Nirvana/Tupac shirts at any moment.

wait I need to know why you don’t like Charli and Billie’s link up (no agenda, I don’t really have an opinion, just want to know why when people do!)
