Everything has its run. Oscars 2025 - big yawn - the only A-listers there? The ones who were nominated. A-list presenters - few and far between. I'm happy for everyone who won something or got nominated - but honestly I didn't know who they were. It appears to me, Hollywood and celebrity is coming to an end after a 100 year run. I've seen 4 movies on the big screen in the last 6 years. I used to go to see a movie once a week.
ding ding: that's exactly it. it's a bummer, for myriad (nostalgic?) reasons, but it's also a law of life, which doesn't make watching "empires" fall any easier. ebbs and flows, transfers of power, night turning to day: nothing is without ups and downs, beginnings and ends. this reminds: while the macro, a-list items will get their paws somewhere, it's a huge loss for the little people, which this story did a great job at capturing. it's hard watching an era end!! https://www.ft.com/content/18db980a-85ed-4806-a2bd-6f5a11486915
It was such a relief to read this interview and see someone acknowledge how Hollywood is changing to a significant degree. Honestly, it’s nerve-wracking. I wrote about this recently in my own newsletter, not to this extent, but I wrote an explanation to people not in the entertainment industry about why there’s going to be fewer films, fewer shows, and there’s definitely a downshift, which is hard.
Please please please tell this art director how much I appreciate her voicing everything that’s happening right now, and especially the advice at the end, and the fact that things have deteriorated and the entertainment industry and our American culture in general has suffered and is putting up with a lot right now, not just politically (but man, definitely politically, ugh). I just really appreciate this article. I just subscribed and will restack right now. Thank you, I appreciate you!
thank YOU reda!!!! i feel you and i "see" it too, having been in the trenches and continuing to read the writing on the wall. it's easy for people to not see this! and i've been trying to communicate it and...i think this interview did exactly that — and glad to hear this resonated! i'm going to share with addie: thank you again!!
More interviews please, Kyle. Excellent.
THANKIE BEN ðŸ˜
Loved this, thanks Kyle & "Addie" <3
