“Banal mania of AI” is such a perfect statement, I know you wrote it and not AI. 😉 I really do think we’re headed into uncharted territory with how people respond emotionally to this stuff. I fear for the future, at least in the short term. Eventually it will be trivialized as it should be and we’ll be manic about something else.
it’s so weird that AI (like all things) is really boiling down to taste in ways. would i rather look at an image of me and my grandpa from when he was alive years ago? or do i want to use frankenstein tech to make him alive now? the latter is so odd. increasingly AI is just proving to be something that Facebook people will die for. boring! to your point: we will eventually move on and i cannot wait for that day.
