Happy Holidays and keep buying! Man, this hits hard. Walking around in a daze, I buy without thinking sometimes. My friend and I were just joking about how corporations will start introducing surge pricing everywhere on everything to gamify-while-they-reap buying all the time.
damn surge pricing for retail is crazy and would help A LOT that would help take out, say, the ease of spending (especially online shopping) which is all to say: "shopping" somehow has gotten so normalized that we don't even stop to think critically about it anymore?? such is capitalism or SOMETHING!!!!
We joked surge-everything would be nuts, and it actually might be the thing that breaks us completely good and bad. Anxiety about fomo would be non-stop. But, you’re right that on the flip side, it would cause you to think more about what you are doing. My fear: it would just be used to manipulate people with fear and inflationary/deflationary pricing would just be normalized. Digital price tag displays make it seem possible.
yeah that...is actually what would happen: it would just be constant Black Friday which is the exact OPPOSITE of what should happen (for wallets, for the planet, etc.). i do think there's going to be, like, a mass waking up and going "yo: amazon SUCKS" and then the dominos fall. at least i hope so!!
Yeah...the only good thing about our "no ons is listening" moment is how many celebs are tanking their performative support for Israel, arrogantly believing THEY will move the needle 🤣
