In Mexico it has become increasingly common for the younger-ish (under 40βs?) creatives to us X or @ in written language such as texts and social media posts etc to neutralize gender in all the spanish language words. Fascinating to witness this sweeping change in real time, so was interesting to read about the origins of this, thank you! Just say βF no!βto offices, beepers, Goonies remake and apartheid! π·

Itβs controversial with the conservative olds and people afraid/of change but the youth has def taken to it :))
