Your vibe piece is great! I would add that poptimism led to a lot of the conformity. Speaking of which, this validates what I've been saying: the '10s were like a center-left version of the '50s. And the '50s didn't vary that much from the '40s culturally (besides obvious exceptions like Elvis). By the early 60s the cultural rot was high until the Beatles and all that

another thing i was thinking about too that isn't in here is a lot of this also has to do with subtle (or not) white cultural dominance and the last breaths of "that" which is to say: it's just capitalism.

And...not to beat a dead horse but the fact that no corporation wants to touch 🍉 (yet) creates a blank space that holds so much potential for cultural revolution (though there is also the possibility that it gets too political and no cultural work is good enough like it was in the 30s, when the American radicals reluctantly accepted folk music as a viable art form after negating literally EVERYTHING)
