"people who wish me harm"
8 takeaways from the January 6 hearings day 3
Rudy Giuliani Get Dunked on
A lil catch up on this. If you watch anything, do the first link, where AOC explains what it feels like to have coworkers who want to kill you. Bless her. Also, I cannot get over the Rudy thing. How does the Trump White House (And Rudy!!) keep outdoing themselves??
Lauren Boebert Reportedly Had Two Abortions
It’s like……..the GOP are hypocrites?? Working theory!
"begging straight people who want to support LGBT people to see”
Who Are the White Nationalists Mass Arrested in Idaho?
"illegal for children to be exposed to Drag Queen"
Right-wing furious over Biden effort to protect LGBTQ students
“Proud Boys Storm Library”
"An ugly protest."
“ Republican Party has voted to shut out Log Cabin”
The Battle Over Gender Therapy
This week in the repealing of queer rights. This last story is also an example of so-called “liberal” publications like the Times doing lazy, potentially harmful reporting about a queer non-issue (that serves as a dogwhistle for conservatives).
Closing the 'Boyfriend Loophole' Would Be a Huge Deal
This would be a huge deal. I remember working on a story / video about this for ATTN: and it’s just a shocking, fucked up, gun-death related something that should go away, in that it allows non-legal spouses who are domestic abusers to buy weapons – and harm the person they were in a relationship with.
Why employees don't want to return to the office
America's belief in God hits new low
I wrote about both of these things in essays a bit ago, which is all to say: I told you so. The office item dovetails into the ongoing trend of un-ambition that is quickly becoming a 2022 defining topic.
Why eating at your desk is banned in France
This captures the difference between Europe and America so simply.
US issues warnings on 'forever chemicals' in water
Yellowstone Wrecked by 'Thousand-Year' Floods
Western European early summer heatwave, climate change fears
This week in Our Poor Planet & People.
There is a war on nature.
I hope this story isn’t going overlooked: two journalists were killed in remote Brazil, while reporting on the destruction of nature. It represents a lot – how few are fighting for nature, how profit is killing the planet – but will sadly be a footnote to a footnote to a footnote in the story of evironmental ruin.
"What a picture…"
There is probably a lot that has been written about this picture of Zelensky and leaders like Macron and Scholz. This meme seems to capture the optics. Also: the quote retweets are incredible, illustrating how a brief meme was born.
Bill Gates says NFTs are '100 percent based on greater fool theory'
Been saying this for months!!!!!
SpaceX Fires Employees Who Dared Question Musk's Tweets
"@ElonMusk jokes about his plan to steal memes"
You’re an idiot, sir! But also you’re an idiot for working for this megalomaniac! What did you expect?? No logic, just rich asshole vibes!!
I was talking to someone this week who bought a house. I was talking to someone this week who quit their job. I was talking to someone this week who just had a baby. I was talking to someone this week whose dog died. I was talking to someone this week who just got dumped. I was talking to someone this week who started a new job in a new city. I was talking to someone this week who was supposed to go on vacation but, instead, ended their relationship of six years and bought a condo.
This is all to say: everyone is experiencing a change. Yes, change is a constant, perhaps even the only constant – but these changes are all significant, happening simultaneously, and representing the closing of a chapter and start of a new one. These are not little changes, not “Look at my new haircut!” things, but foundations and life orders rearranging. We are in a moment of reorienting, for better and worse, placing us in new positions for the rest of the year and, perhaps, for the rest of our lives. Even in my own little world, my personal life sees me moving to a new place and, in my day-job, helping a major tech company roll out a new way of speaking online. These are seismic shifts, in my life and in the life of this company.
These are all changes that come with uncertainty, doubts, risks, and rewards – and we’ve all been craving them. After roughly three years of a pandemic and political uncertainty, this is the summer of big changes that we were promised in 2021: everyone is making a move because we’re tired, because we’re frustrated, because we want to feel something. Sure, this could be cosmic and related to astrology (Places are saying “reinvention” and “calls to action” instead of change.), but something potent is in the water – and everyone has something deep happening.
We can see this in the macro too. A recession is coming. This is an election year. The Supreme Court is readying to rule on fundamental issues. Heatwaves are taking over the world. Everyone is getting Covid, while young children prepare to be vaccinated. A lot is happening.
Many people have thoughts on what this summer will be – the summer of being annoying, the summer of shitposts, the summer of love, the summer of going places, the summer of [insert whatever you want] – which all seem to emphasize that this is the season of change. Whether for good or bad, of beginnings or of endings, things are happening. All we can do is embrace it, as fighting change will only make the process harder. Time will tell who or what we will become, once these many movements have settled.
What is your change? How are you giving grace to those around you? We’re all going through it: remember that – and be nice to each other.
'The Wendy Williams Show' airs final episode without host
"Wendy Williams deserves so much better."
This was a very sad send off, that completely ignored the star. Celebrate her by looking at the quote retweets on this Tweet, and revisit her toleration of gay men and fear of the killer. This is my favorite Wendy memory.
When Shipping Containers Sink in the Drink
A fascinating look at what happens – and how often – shipping containers fall into the ocean, creating both trash and lost resources.
Pharrell Williams - Cash In Cash Out (Official Video)
This song is great – but the video? An incredible zoetrope which, yes, is entirely real.
BTS Are Going on Hiatus
BTS Boy Band Triggers $1.7 Billion Rout
This feels like huge news, no? Like when Nsync and One Direction “stopped,” but with more economic implications. In any event, it’s helping the mental health of the ARMY!!
Nancy Brophy sentenced to life in prison for murder of husband
Brophy wrote a blog titled “How To Murder Your Husband.” Which is all to say: if you are going to murder someone and want to get away with it, don’t write a blog post about it. (That said, this is a Death of a Salesman style tragedy: she killed him to get insurance money, since they were so hard-pressed for money.)
Fans told Lizzo her song was offensive. She changed the lyrics.
I think this is great and should happen more! However…why was Lizzo saying such a word anyway? It’s so stupid retro middle school.
Father-Son Duo Making Content Together on OnlyFans
This story is so fucking bonkers. Happy Father’s Day!!

Grace Ives' Hot Mess Anthems
Grace Ives’ new album is very good and this album is very cute. I wish her the world!
“Jerrod Carmichael on Dave Chappelle”
I – and cannot stress this enough – love Jerrod Carmichael. I’m actually surprised his face hasn’t been plastered everywhere for Pride! Glad he hasn’t been pinkwashed!! (Also: I would like this outfit from the story.)
"Mahershala Ali’s personal assistant has her tiktok"
I love this because it helps to demystify Hollywood, and shows what a great boss Mahershala Ali is.
"How it started.."
As Jennifer Hudson is now an EGOT, this video made my soul sing. Very rarely, dreams do come true. Pursue them anyway!
“The Brilliance Of Charo”
Please watch Charo play the guitar!!!!! What an icon!
