Welcome to The Trend Report™! Now that you’re here, why not share the love? 💚
Do we think Charli XCX and Lorde are actually friends? Or are they just people who work together, who have that sort of similar circumstance and taste where they’re always circling each other, forced to sit together, told from other friends that they’d “love” the other person despite already trying to make-it-work? Or do they actively not know each other, people who are just the circumstances of other people mistaking them, a meme turned into a platonic situationship of forced knowing each other? Girl, so confusing.
Friendship, whether full or flimsy, is confusing. It’s something that I’ve been consumed by as of late, that culture has been trying to figure out, despite my being a person with stacks and stacks of friends, an address book swollen with names that I could call at any moment and chat with for hours. I have emails from friends sharing that they’re pregnant, that they’re coming to visit, that they’re in the throes of a new love, that they have new writing to share, that they’re lonely, that they hate their job: you name it, I have a friendship for it. You name it, I have it. You name it, I love it.
