A few days ago my hair was long. Not quite to the shoulders, but certainly more in the camp of actually-long than in the camp of actually-short. It was getting moppy, where I could fold it all over to one side and it would lay across my head, the soft curl of it like a hand on hip. It’s cute but, in a too-hot moment, there is an urge to shave it all off. Then, upon catching myself in a mirror, in the right lighting and right attitude, I imagine that I could finally achieve what the dream of the modern Samson: Joseph Gordon-Levitt from 3rd Rock From The Sun. What cures the depression of a near forty year old person? A fuck ass bob, apparently.

But that didn’t happen. I went to my hair person and, with my typical camera roll folder of hair inspirations, told them that I really didn’t know what to do. But it wasn’t for a lack of choice: it was for a lack of inspiration. I found myself in a light crisis, staring out into the world of male-ish person hairstyles realizing that the crisis may be greater than me.
