thanks for writing about Zuck and Meta. to each his own and everyone sets their professional goals but it felt disturbing to see people celebrate the Zuck interview on here
to each their own indeed!! but also...so much of the endorsement of (or taking money from) tech-culture stuff is an outing of some interesting values, as is the longing to be in those conversations. very over such simping!!! and thanks for reading, Patri!!!!
god UGH i don't think people are mad enough about this shit!!!!! or hating on it enough!!!!!!!!!! it can't be that easy to add a kardashian and a "cool" shape to all of a sudden make mass AI surrveillance work. we have to be better than that!!!! anyway, thank you and fabulous as always king
i mean...talk about a great opportunity to chat about consent, boundaries, and respecting others!!!! this sounds like a great personal essay to pitch too!!!
Meta and all the "smart" glasses need to be handled by government policies or it's gonna be hell worse than with people taking out their smartphones everywhere. Idk, maybe policies like in Japan with smartphone camera shutter sounds, but for video/camera. The companies won't police themselves for sure — and especially not fucking Meta.
For some reason, I was just imagining a world where everyone on the street is wearing smart glasses, and honestly it feels like being surrounded by CCTV all the time
Even now, whenever I see YouTubers or random people with their DJIs or cameras, I instinctively try to dodge the footage and avoid ending up in the background. Once Meta glasses become mainstream in cities, it’s going to be 100x more unbearable than the heatwave.
P.S. The entire guest series on Feed Me only reinforced my impression that he exists in a complete vacuum.
oof you're exactly right and on one hand it's like "whatever! we're used to surveillance! my image is out there!!!" but also....BLEH as everything about it (the lack of consent, the AI inputs, contenti-fication of life) is so unpleasant. it's easy to "miss" them, but i'm sure we'll start to hear stories about people having their glasses broken, etc. unsurprising! and the Feed Me thing — like his entering through the back door at the Met Gala — reveals how clearly he knows he's in the wrong *and* that he absolutely has no spine on any of this. fuck elon musk, but at least musk "owns" his super villainy lol

This is much less “refined” than a lot of my scribbling, but I posted this little essay-like object about the Meta Glasses a few weeks back folks may “enjoy”. https://againstconfusion.substack.com/p/but-wait-it-can-get-worse?r=gvvi&utm_medium=ios
